Ndiba's big second half leads Arizona Western Women's Basketball to 69-56 win over Vaqueras

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western College Lady Matadors Women's Basketball team (20-9, 16-6) bounced back to beat Central Arizona (9-19, 8-14) 69-56 in Coolidge, Ariz., on Saturday afternoon behind 26 points from Alliance Ndiba.

Nidba scored 24 of her 26 points in the second half to help lead the Lady Matadors past the Vaqueras and snap their three-game losing streak.

Arizona Western and Central Arizona split the first 24 points of the game, each scoring 12 points in the first quarter. The Lady Matadors held the Vaqueras to just eight points in the second quarter, outscoring Central Arizona 14-8 before the half.

The Lady Matadors came out of the locker room and scored 20 points in the third quarter and 23 in the fourth quarter, pulling away from the Vaqueras. Ndiba had a huge fourth quarter, scoring 16 of her 26 points in the final 10 minutes.

Dyvine Harris was the Lady Matadors' second-leading scorer, scoring 19 points and Rita Gomes and Chenai Mushore each scored eight in the win.

The Lady Matadors wrap up the regular season on Monday, March 4, hosting Glendale on Sophomore night with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 pm at the House Gymnasium.
