CAC sweeps doubleheader against Okanagan

SIGNAL PEAK — The Central Arizona College baseball team scored 27 runs and pounded out 29 hits in Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of Okanagan at CAC Field.

The Vaqueros (7-2) collected 15 hits in the seven-inning opener, which they won 17-2. Central prevailed 10-5 in the nine-inning second game.



CAC scored nine runs in the second inning, five in the third and three in the sixth in the opener.

Spencer O'Neil went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, and Andris Risquez went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Aaron Smith went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, and David Petrino went 2 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Driving in one run apiece were Cody Farrell, MJ Hubbs, Manny Ramirez Jr. and Sam Welton.

Okanagan, from British Columbia, Canada, scored two runs (one earned) off CAC starter Brock Dykxhoorn in the fourth. Dykxhoorn went four innings, allowing four hits while striking out four and walking none.

Conner O'Neil pitched two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Cody Erickson worked a scoreless seventh, giving up no hits and no walks with one strikeout.

Trailing 2-0 in the second game after Okanagan scored one run in the first inning and one in the third, CAC put up one in the fourth, six in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Farrell went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Vaqueros finished with 14 hits. Petrino went 2 for 3 with a triple, a double and four RBIs.

Erickson went 2 for 3 and scored three runs, and Tim Herget went 2 for 4 with a double.

Spencer O'Neil had a double and two RBIs, and Ramirez drove in one run.

Starter Connor Noble allowed three runs (one earned) in 42⁄3 innings. He gave up five hits, struck out three and walked two.

Carlos Rodriguez pitched two innings, allowing one run and no hits while striking out five and walking three.

Dillon Bigcrane finished, allowing one run and two hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 21⁄3 innings.
