Vaqueros Beat Plainsmen

The Vaqueros continued their winning ways with a nonconference 7-1 win over Northeastern Junior College (CO).

Brock Dykxhoorn got the win for CAC, moving his record to 4-2 on the season.  Dykxhoorn dominated the Plainsmen with 11 strikeouts in just 5.2 innings of work.

The CAC offense was jumpstarted by MJ Hubbs, who reached base all three plate appearances and scored twice.  Hubbs also made a run-saving catch in centerfield in the 2nd inning.

"We need to get Hubbs going," said Coach Wente. "I thought he looked a little more confident in the leadoff spot today.  His impact on our offense can be huge with his speed and power package."

David Petrino came up with runners in scoring position in all four of his at-bats.  Three of those at-bats resulted in run-scoring groundouts.

"It is important for the middle of our order to execute when there are runs to be driven in.  David did a great job of doing just that today," said Wente.

Jared Koenig pitched the final 3.1 innings for the Vaqueros.  Koenig struck out four, while giving up one earned run. Jared picked up a save.

The Vaqueros stole seven bases on the day, moving their season total to 37.
