Vaqueros win 7th in a row at Phoenix

Everybody's hitting. Connor Noble with another nice pitching performance. The Vaqueros rapped 13 hits to climb into second in the ACCAC in batting average at a .324 clip, and as promised in the pre-season, Central Arizona was aggressive on the paths swiping four more, good for fourth in the conference. Josh Ethier, Tim Hergert, Caleb Henderson, and Cody Erickson all pilfered bags and from Phoenix College's angle, it had to look like the Vaqueros just wouldn't let up. Central scored runs in five out of the first six innings.

The final was 8-3.

Two more hits including a double for MJ who is now leading the conference in hitting with a .449 batting average, and with another rib Tuesday night, he sits at third in the conference with 25. Jake Brown, Caleb Henderson, Cody Erickson and Scooter all had two hits apiece, and Cooper Esmay hit his fourth homerun of the year. Esmay is now fourth in the conference in HR. There's only one shortstop in the ACCAC that can go 0-5 and still steal a base, get an rbi and not strike out even once, and that's Josh Ethier. That's a heck of an 0-5 day. Jaime Estrada is now doing what you want your two-hole doing, which is everything. He scored twice, had two rbi's, one from a sacrifice fly, and walked twice. He leads the team in walks with 14.

Connor Noble started for the first time in nine days, threw 5.2 with six punchouts, and gave up one earned run. His ERA is 1.59, a stat everyone loves. The Vaqueros bullpen of Dailey Carnes and Ben Nelson tidied up with six debillitating strike outs in the last three innings.

The Vaq's have won seven in a row and when you're doing what the system asks for, you'll be tough to beat.

Nifty lefty Ben Nelson (l) and Toby Johnson with dugout small talk.

Up and at 'em Wednesday morning as the Central Arizona College Vaqueros head off to Talking Stick with a game versus the Colorado Rockies. First pitch is 10:00am. This is not a conference game. : )
