Vaqueros with fourteen hits beat Gateway CC

The Central Vaqueros played it to the gameplan Wednesday afternoon, loose and free.

Head Coach Anthony Gilich threw six pitchers who all responded by giving up one earned run, and the hitters rapped 14 hits as the Vaquero won 10-2 at the Big House. It was a matter of time before Toby Johnson showed his hitting ability and it was this day. He went 3-3 scoring twice, and swiped one hitting in the eighth spot. Jaime Estrada went 3-5 in the lead-off position driving in three runs, doubling and walking. SP/RP Michael Lopez hit as DH in the two-hole and went 2-5 with an rbi and run scored.

"Jaime in the lead-off spot is something we're playing around with" said Gilich. "And Lopez is a good hitter. He just hasn't gotten the opportunities because we have needed him on the mound."

Two-ways. You can't beat a two-way.

SP/RP/DH Michael Lopez                                           Aldi!

The Vaqueros swarmed the bases for the first four innings taking an 8-1 lead and there's nothing like a big lead early. MJ doubled again and scored twice, Aldo Koutsoyanopulos had a day going 2-5 with a couple of rbi's, and catcher Chris Kobar knocked in two runs. Cody Erickson (1-3 with two runs and BB) at short and Toby at second whipped a couple of dandy double plays. You love a total team effort and Wednesday was one of those.

None of Central's pitchers gave up more than two hits and the count was ten bayou's on the day. Sam Myers started and gave up nothing, picking up the win (2-1). The Vaq's are 3-1 against the Geckos this year with one game remaining, and the grind rolls on when Central entertains Phoenix College Saturday with DH starting at noon. This is great, who knows who will be where in the next lineup. What a fun team to watch.
