The stage is set. The Vaqueros swept Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher Tuesday afternoon, and with Western Arizona being swept by Yavapai, the final Regional play-off spot will be decided by the conference's final weekend doubleheaders. 

The scenario:

Cochise College, Yavapai, and South Mountain are in, the conference's top four Division I teams play. Arizona Western (19-15) and Central (18-16) will find out who gets the final spot.

Central is in:

• With a split against Cochise this weekend and Western is swept by South Mountain. 
• With a sweep of Cochise if Western splits with South Mountain (tie-breaker to CAC)

Central is out:

• If swept by Cochise.
• If Western sweeps South Mountain.
• If both Central and Western Arizona split.

Central Arizona banged out 26 hits and stole seven bases while scoring 20 runs on Tuesday. Caleb Henderson doubled three times and scored three times in game one, and Cody Erickson drove in four runs. Everyone in Central's starting lineup produced at least one hit except Cooper Esmay, but even he drove in two runs with a couple of sacrifice flies. The first game final was 9-1.

Dakody Clemmer threw a complete gamer and picked up his sixth win.

"Dakody walked three and struck out two and was efficient" stated head coach Antony Gilich in the exclusive post-game text message.

In game two with Eastern Arizona up 3-1 after six innings, the Vaqueros put up six in the top of the seventh and added four more in the eighth. Jake Brown cleared the bases in the seventh with a double and stayed on base all day going 4-4 with a walk, and scoring twice. Jaime Estrada scored three times, Josh Ethier and Tim Hergert scored twice also. Aldo Koutsoyanopulos tripled and drove in three. Connor Noble picked up his fifth win, striking out five and going a very nice eight innings. The second game final was 11-6.

The Vaqueros are stinging the ball and "it was a great day in all three phases of the game" added Gilich.

"I am proud of the guys for coming from behind in both games."

Two things are clear. It's never over 'till it's over with this team, and every player in the lineup can produce if needed. Some teams don't have the come-from-behind mentality or gameplan, Central does. The Vaqueros have won 13 of 17 heading into the final weekend.
