Central wins 4th straight over Chandler Gilbert

The Central Arizona College Vaqueros took a 5-0 lead after five innings and tacked on three more runs to win their fourth straight game with an 8-7 final over Chandler-Gilbert Community College Tuesday afternoon at The Big House.

Coach Anthony Gilich handed Grant Townsend the ball and he threw well for 4 2/3 (early season pitch count in observance), in fact, Gilich could hardly contain himself in the post-game interview.

"He did really well for us."

: )

In post game, you listen for the first name to pop out of the Coach's mouth and it was Townsend. Grant located very well, missed on a few walking two, but struck out five and gave up only two hits. Edgar Barclay got a huge out, and Jared Montoya held down the fort as Daily Carnes closed out the Artichokes with the final 1 1/3, all zeros.

In the early season, nobody really has any designation yet, let's see how it all pans out. You might not even see a "closer" this year. These types of guys are "bullets" on this Central team and any pitcher could come in at any time for any amount of innings, the way it should be. MLB could learn from this.

The second and third names out of the Coach's mouth: Estrada and Makoa. Jaime Estrada drove in four runs with two timely, two-rbi singles, and Makoa Rosario doubled, singled, scored, drove one in, and swiped three bases.

"The kid can run, he's definitely one of our fastest".

Mitchell Robinson laced one into the right field gap for trips and really, what's more exciting than a triple?

Let's play two! It's a DH at The Big House Saturday with Gateway Community College.
