Central Wins Seventh Straight

"There are many way to win and we've found at least six different ways."

Head Coach Anthony Gilich has his team at 7-0 (0-0) to start the 2016 season and each win has been by different means, Sunday's win was a thump and scratch in a 4-1 win over Colorado Northwestern Community College

"We just have to find a way to get those guys around. We had multiple chances to break it out, we just didn't."

It just seemed like Central had 'em on the whole game and left 'em on, but at least four came around and Peyton Remy threw a gem of a game for 6 and 1/3 of a seven inning game and Kyle Atkinson got the last two outs. Remy spotted and placed giving up one earned run and striking out five.

Remy has won his first two games as a freshman.

Makoa Rosario was given a day to rest a swollen hand which bumped Jaime Estrada into leadoff as centerfielder Ernie de la Trinidad heals, and he did what Jaime does, which was coax a couple of walks, steal a base and get on via HBP.

Only six hits on the day for Central, but ten more walks. That's a conference leading 47 to start the season.

Andrew Chartrand had another good game with two base hits and snatched two more bags for a team-tying four. Jayden Eggiman has four also. Brad Morgan ripped a two hopper double to the left field fence scoring one run in his first start, and Brent Gibbs and SS Roger Varela drove in a run apiece.

Grant Townsend gets the start for Central Tuesday night at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. He'll be caught by Chris Kobar who has instructed his father to not sit behind the home plate until further notice when he is catching.

"Is this far enough back?" asks Chris Kobars' father.
