Grant Townsend threw a nice four.

Central knocked around by Chandler-Gilbert

The highlight of the beautiful night at Chandler-Gilbert Community College was the first four innings. Grant Townsend took a 1-0 lead into the fifth and he had a fastball and was getting outs, but from then on, CGCC kept hitting hard baseballs all around and it was plain and simple just a tough night for the Vaqueros.

"We have to find ways to avoid big innings and just be more consistent game to game" said head coach Anthony Gilich.

Those big innings.

The big inning was really the seventh when the Coyoyes scored four times giving them a 9-1 lead. The reality is, The Vaqueros can come back from a deficit like that, and they have a time or two this year, but Chandler-Gilbert pitching was pretty much a tough crew.

Townsend struck out six walking only two and this really looked like a special night for him. In the beginning of the fifth, he got a few balls up and Chandler-Gilbert him hard early in the inning and it didn't end there. The consistent Daily Carnes ran into a buzz-saw when he relieved Townsend and the Coyotes scored in every remaining inning.

Frankly, it was a nightmare, those last four innings. Ping ping crack walk walk and crack.

Andrew Chartrand had a terrific night leading off, reaching base four of five times with a SAC bunt, scoring, knocking a run in and walking twice. Those are pretty good leadoff numbers. Where was the SB Charts? : )

Jaime Estrada and Mitchell Robinson each had two hits, Estrada with a double, but it was one of those off nights for Central.  The Vaqueros cling to a half game lead in the ACCAC with a set in Yuma this weekend.
