How can a ten run inning not be enough?

After Central Arizona put up ten in the bottom of the second, the Cochise Apaches came back with a niner in the top of the third. After three innings the score was 13-10 Cochise.

"This could be a 40-38 game. We might need to look into getting lights" said Central Arizona Athletic Director Chuck Schnoor.

Both teams combined for 34 hits in Game Two of the Region I Playoffs and now it comes down to a third and final game in the best-of-three series. The final was 20-18 as Cochise had just enough in the end and managed to quiet the Vaqueros bats in the final two innings.

Credit each team for slugging it out, when each could have given up.

Highlights:

Mitchell Robinson, Brent Gibbs, and Pikai Winchester each scored four times with Pikai and Gibbs collecting three hits apiece. Winchester drove in 5 runs with a long homerun and "on fire" doesn't do his bat justice. He is 7-12 in his last three games with eight runs scored and ten rbi. 

Roger Varela hit the ball hard and drove in four runs with timely singles, and 18 hits (16 singles) wasn't enough as Cochise took advantage of the desert wind blowing out by hitting three homeruns.

The ten-run inning was a masterpiece though. You take 'em how you can get 'em because after Game 1, you figure each run would be at a premium. It was classic Vaquero baseball, bunts on 3-2 counts, extra bases being taken, choppers through the middle with bases full, line shots, a first-and-third rundown with everyone safe. 

"It was a wild one" said head coach Anthony Gilich. "Our guys are ready for game three."
