Vaqueros Thump Sun Devils in Tempe

Fall baseball came to an end Tuesday night in Tempe as the Central Arizona Vaqueros played one more before the holidays break on a "Super Moon" night. The Super Moon looked like any other moon frankly, but it was beautiful and Central stuck it to the Arizona State Sun Devils 11-7.

Roger Varela, Brent Bailey and Devin Ray all had multiple hit games and the Vaquero pitching staff did as hoped for and then some. Will McAffer, Andrew Edwards, Grant Townsend. Peyton Remy and Ryley Widell all got some good looks and innings under their belts.

"It was a special night" said the head coach Anthony Gilich.

The Sun Devils had only three hits going into the seventh and Central recorded a nice double play and seemingly sprayed the ball around all night, a highlight came in the fifth inning with a gorgeous full count hit and run sending Brent Baily to third by Roger Varela

No yanks on the night, but a timely hit here and an extra base hit there, coupled with experience and speed on the bases kept Central poking all through the game. In the end it was the Vaqueros who looked like they'd been there. It's a nice head of steam for the Cowboy Christmas and you can just count the days until Las Vegas.
