Vaqueros take another in Las Vegas over Colorado Northwestern

Not bad. At all.

After a tough opener with a national top twenty team in Gateway Community College, the Central Arizona Vaqueros took the weekend winning their final three games. The Sunday matchup was Colorado Northwestern and it wasn't pretty overall, but a win is a win.

Any win is a good win. It's been said a million times but so what.

Grant Townsend and Andrew Edwards put 'em over the plate and on the edges walking only one batter between the two in six innings, and Luis Tellechea entered in the eighth inning with two men on in a 5-5 game, no outs.

Job done.

The Cowboys scored in the top of the 9th when Roger Varela hit a pinch triple and Jake Vander Wal hit the SAC fly. Tellechea kept the Spartans quiet in the bottom.

Job done again.

"We put Luis in a tough spot and he really came through huge for us" said head coach Anthony Gilich.

Outfielder Sam Scroeder went 4-4 with a couple of two-baggers, Pikai Duque-Winchester went 2-3 on the day with a couple of walks, and catcher Isaiah Garcia walked three times himself.
