Vaqueros win in bottom of the 9th

Alix Garcia hit a low and outside pitch into right field with two strikes to start off the bottom of the 9th, and when Brent Bailey laid down a bunt single to the left side to advance him, the throw went into right field scoring pinch-runner Jake Vander Wal all the way from first. Central Arizona scored three runs in the last two innings to take the weekend.

Down 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th, Andrew Chartrand singled to left to start off the inning and scored when Matt Kroon hit a hard one through the left side that mysteriously got all the way to the fence. Kroon ended up on third and Roger Varela hit a sacrifice fly to tie the score.

Grant Townsend pitched out of a big jam in the top of the 9th with runners on second and third and one out. With the infield in, Pikai Duque-Winchester fielded a grounder and threw home to catch the runner on third in a rundown for the second out, and Townsend struck out the next batter.

Big.

Will McAffer threw a tidy 4.2 and the Central defense came up with a couple of nice double plays, one of them with the bases loaded in the top of the 7th. Garcia to Devin Ray to Bradley Gonzales.

Alix Garcia singles to right.

Wide throw on Brent Bailey bunt.

Vander Wal (running for Garcia) all the way around.
