Remy, Widell at it again. Vaqueros sweep El Paso

You go back to game six a week ago when Central Arizona College lost 3-2 to Glendale Community College and head coach Anthony Gilich said "we gotta find ways to win games like this" and since, they've won two "games like this".

All three games scores were 3-2, and both of these 3-2 wins were walk-offs.

On Friday at The Big House, the Vaqueros were down in the first game 2-0 after six and won with a Makoa Rosario two-out double in the bottom of that last inning.  Double headers are usually sevens and niners.  With Alix Garcia and Matt Kroon on, Devin Ray singled in Garcia with Kroon hitting third. Ray stole second and Rosario sent a curve ball down the third base line for a double clearing the bases and it's a win. Well that's how you win games like that.

Peyton Remy threw five very nice innings, striking out eight and gave up two unearned runs. His season ERA is 0.00. Nick Trogerlic-Iverson was lights out in the final two striking out two Tejano Jacks and he picked up his first Vaquero win.

In game two with Ryley Widell starting (and almost finishing), Central led 6-0 after three innings and closed out El Paso 15-0 for a seven inning mercy rule and a double header sweep. Widell threw six innings, striking out six and didn't walk a batter. His ERA dipped to 0.61.

Ty Johnson, Alix Garcia and Brent Bailey all drove in three runs apiece, but Garcia also walked twice for a perfect day reaching base in all five at bats.

Andrew Chartrand had  a day at the plate in  the lead-off going 2-3  with a couple of walks,  two runs batted in,  and he also scored  three times.

No earned runs in two  games? Not bad.

"Well, it looks nice for  the stats and all but  the idea is to give the  hitters a chance to  win ball games and the best way to do that is to not give up a lot of runs" said pitching coach Jerry A'Hearn, smiling.

Two more with the Tejano Jacks Saturday in Coolidge starting at 11:00.
