Vaqueros pitching strikes out 16 in win

Central Arizona College won their seventh baseballl game in a row on Wednesday afternoon in Coolidge with a 13-0 shutout of Thompson River out of the Canadian College Baseball Conference.

"We played really well in all three phases" said head coach Anthony Gilich. "I thought Jye Deeble (pictured below), Gio Lopez and Sati Santa Cruz threw especially well."

The pitching staff of five pitchers gave a grand total of two hits and walked only two. Through 13 games, the Vaqueros have nine different pitchers winning ball games.

"Everyone is contributing and we'll need them all to chase down our goals" added Gilich.

Sati and Luis Tellechea each struck out the side in their one inning, Gio and Sam Miller threw an inning apiece and struck out two.

Seven innings, 16 strikeouts. This means five men got a piece of the baseball Wednesday afternoon.

Brad Morgan tripled and Alix Garcia drove in a couple with a triple of his own, but it was catcher Isaiah Garcia who drove in four runs with a bases clearing double. He tried to make it a triple, but after all, he's a catcher. He was thrown out at third, but nobody complains when three men are high-fiving entering the dugout.

It's off to Yuma against Arizona Western this weekend and then a home-and-home against South Mountain Community College next Tuesday and Wednesday. Central leads the ACCAC in triples and BB and is currently second in OBP at .449. The pitching staff (not-surprisingly) leads the ACCAC in sit-downs per 9 innings, they are striking out over 12 batters a game.
