Vaqueros drop one to South Mountain

Peyton Remy had another quality start, giving up two earned runs while striking out six and walking only one, but there's not much else to say, really.

The Central three final relievers did fine, but defensive miscues opened up the door for South Mountain to peck away and take a 5-2 win Tuesday afternoon. Sam Miller did nicely getting two strikeouts in his one inning. Central Arizona only gave up seven hits and walked three, plenty good enough for a win most days. Credit for the South Mountain pitcher Pono Anderson, a complete game and he never really looked like he was done.

Really, you just look at the scoreboard after eight innings and you mumble to yourself...

"Eh."

The Cowboys couldn't put it all together today.

After the Cougars went up 5-0, Central had a couple of long balls in the the 7th inning and this one had the makings of another Vaquero comeback but they couldn't get the timely hits this time.

Eh.

Jake Vander Wal (scoring above) doubled and SS Devin Ray (pulling up at third above) bombed one off the fence in right for a triple with one out and Roger Varela hit a grounder to score him, but that was it in the seventh. Alix Garcia drilled one into deep right center for a double in the ninth, but couldn't get around.

Baseball Wednesday afternoon in Phoenix against South Mountain again.
