Bradley Gonzales finishes off Western Oklahoma

Central Stops Western Oklahoma

Ryley Widell threw very well, keeping these Western Oklahoma hitters off balance all day, giving up only four hits and one walk through six innings to pick up his third win. No earned runs, one walk.

Bradley Gonzales threw the final three, just enough gas in the tank in the end to preserve a 6-2 Vaqueros win. The two Western runs scored in the seventh were unearned.

Pretty impressive for these two when you consider this:

Western Oklahoma has hit 38 homeruns this year, tops in the NJCAA. The Pioneers are also first in slugging percentage in the nation. So, giving up four hits and no earned runs needs to be said twice

"We stole a couple of bases, had three SACS, hit the ball in spots ok, pitched very well, bunted well, and had a couple of nice hit-and-runs" said Anthony Gilich, the head coach.

"This might be the best team we've seen all year."

Sam Schroeder had a couple of hits and rbi's.

"Raw talent" says Gilich.

Pikai Dique-Winchester went one for three with an rbi and run scored, but his first inning laser hit the pitcher in the hand and ricocheted to the third baseman for an out.

"We think the guy's hand could have been broken" said Gilich. "But he toughed it out for another inning or so."

Central got nine hits on the day with the only extra base hit being a Ty Johnson double. Good day at The Big House, but another day on Friday as Western Nebraska is in town for a nine inning game starting at noon.
