Central Sweeps Another DH

Central Arizona College took the Baseball Limo down the ol' nineteener for doubleheader on Tuesday night at Pima College.

Central won both games by scores of 7-6.

That's six of seven for the Cowboys, and while it may not have been pretty, it was a  sweep.

Game 1

In the bottom of the seventh in game one, Central poked and poked and took a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the inning and promptly loaded the bases. And with one out, the Aztecs scored on a HBP, but reliever Grant Townsend got his second save by striking out the last two hitters for the win.

Central recorded seven hits but made them all count by scoring seven runs. Andrew Chartrand drove in three runs by tripling, and with a nice sac bunt. Devin Ray and Roger Varela both doubled.

Game 2

The Cowboys pounded out 17 hits in this one. The top four batters in Ray, Varela, Pikai Duque-Winchester and Alix Garcia combined for ten hits, Pikai hit two triples in this game. The bottom five didn't do too badly either, recording seven hits themselves. Central stole four bags in the game and in the end, it was another bases loaded jam, but with two outs, Nick Trogerlic-Iverson got a ground out in the ninth to preserve the win, his first save of the season.

To go back to earlier in the season's quote from the head coach "we've gotta find ways to win games like this"....well there's two more.
