Grant Townsend just wants the rock.

"I love it" said head coach Anthony Gilich. "Last year he had a tight arm and this year he's following me around and texting me saying he's ready any time."

The question on the coaching staff is how much should they lean on Townsend. With the enormous amount of tight, tense games, your instinct is to want to go with who's the hottest.

"We've asked a lot of Grant with all of these tight games, and by scoring ten runs in the fifth inning today, we were able to get back to the bullpen."

Central ripped 15 more hits Friday afternoon and shut out Scottsdale Community College 16-0.

Townsend pitched another remarkable five innings giving up only three singles, two to the Scottsdale leadoff batter, and struck out nine of twenty batters. His pitch count was in the mid seventies, so the ten run inning made it easy to lift him and throw some innings to Gio Lopez and Luis Tellechea who preserved the shutout.

Jake Vander Wal drove in three runs with two singles and a sacrifice fly. Somehow, when they're on the bags, Vandy gets 'em in. He is the team RBI leader with 31. Pikai Duque-Winchester drove in two more and Andrew Chartrand scored twice, had two hits, and drove in two more. He stole one base and it's what you want in a leadoff. 

Catcher Chris Diehl doubled and drove in two, and Nick Dayton hit a two bag liner down the left field line driving in another. It was error-free baseball for Central Arizona College, who has won seven of eight baseball games and currently has a two game lead in the fourth play-off position.
