Central Takes CGCC Series With 7-2 Win

With just giving up a little single through three, a timely strikeout or two with a crafty cutter and changing speeds often, Jye Deeble took the pill and did what you want to do. The Central batters singled here and there, took an extra base on an error, beat out fielders choices with hustle, and took a big lead. They then held the lead, for a 7-2 win against Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Wednesday night. Central Arizona took the home-away two game set.

Deeble threw a full six, struck out four and won his third game of the year. Andrew Edwards was too much for the Coyotes in the final three.

Two more hits for Charts, Alix Garcia hit the ball around all night and walked, and all the Central starters got hits. You can't say anything better than all-around great team effort.

Matt Kroon took a toughie in the knee, so you can even add a "take one for the team." He'll be stiff and sore, but ok.

"Right after I told him to stay in there" his father said as Kroon kind of hobbled to first, and stayed there, then scored.

There were web gems. Late, shortstop Justice Nakagawa laid out on a hard hit ground ball through the middle, stabbed it, politely tossed it to Pikai Duque-Winchester, who then whirled and threw a strike to first for the 6-4-3. Pikai did the same from his position at second base on a sizzler up the middle for the final out of the game.

"NFL quarterbacK" said coach Joe Perez another time when first baseman Roger Varela fielded a chopper half way to second base and threw a bullet to first catching pitcher Andrew Edwards in full stride for a force out. Solid baseball.

On Friday, the completion of the March 3rd suspended game against Arizona Western will start at 12:00 for the seven inning game, then immediately afterwards, the regularly scheduled nine inning game will start.

Let's see what these players are made of. It's the stretch run starting right now.
