Central Wins Against Western Again

The Central Arizona College Vaqueros have won eleven of thirteen baseball games, and in their last five wins have outscored opponents 48-8. With the 9-2 win on Saturday over Arizona Western, Central took three of the four games against the Matadors and moved two games back of second place South Mountain in ACCAC conference play.

"It was a clean game" said head coach Anthony Gilich. "It was good to see Sati and Gio Lopez get in there and attack hitters."

You like Central's chances when #15 is on the mound and Ryley Widell gave 6.2 strong innings giving up just two earned runs and getting ground balls when he needed them. Sati Santa Cruz relieved Widell in the seventh and came out firing. Four batters, four outs. Gio Lopez preserved the win for Widell (4-2) in the ninth.

Alix Garcia, Brent Bailey, and Makoa Rosario all doubled, Andew Chartrand has an eight game hitting streak as he singled again, and also walked three times. His OBP is .436, second on the team currently behind Pikai Duque-Winchester. Central walked eleven times and was hit by a pitch, Arizona Western also committed five errors.
