Vaqueros Put It All Together in Win

Central Arizona College played one solid baseball game Tuesday afternoon against a very talented Western Oklahoma State team.

It was a run-rule seven inning game in which the Vaqueros shut out the Pioneers 10-0. A shutout without walking a batter.

This time it was Jason Nelson (3-0) who started and Jordan Suarez who finished. Nelson threw five inning striking out thee and retired his last 13 batters after Western hit a few balls hard in the top of the first inning. Suarez struck out three in the final two.

"Those two can pitch" said head coach Anthony Gilich.

You keep going back to the season preview when the head coach mentioned that maybe this years pitching crop didn't have the steam of last years' team, but, "this year, we have a lot of guys that know how to pitch".

Armando Aguilar hit another homerun to give him five, and that ties him for the team lead with Jake Vander Wal and Daniel Cervantes. The Vaqueros got RBI's from seven different players Tuesday, Liam Spence doubled in one and walked twice, and along with Cervantes, Ernny Ordonez had two hits apiece.

Seven more stolen bases on the day for Central, they now have 84 on the year in 29 games, almost three a game.

Plenty od baseball this week with more today and Thursday before the Vaqueros take a rest this weekend.
