Central Arizona College continues to steamroll through the mid-season Div II schedule after a 13-2 win over Gateway Community College on Wednesday afternoon.

"We've got a good run going" said head coach Anthony Gilich.

"We've been executing offensively. We've had a few bunts and moved runners when we needed to. Coach Ahearn and the pitching staff deserve a lot of credit, they have been outstanding all year."

The #2 ranked Vaqueros have been doing everything offensively, everything. The pitching staff has also been doing everything, from starters to middle to closing out games. That seems to be the trouble teams have with Central, they do fine for the first few innings sometimes, but nobody as of yet has a bullpen to stop Vaqueros hitting towards the end of the game. On Wednesday, Central held a 4-0 lead after six, but scored nine more runs off relievers in the final three innings.

Jacob Hilton had another commanding outing going 6.1, striking out four and giving up only two hits. Hilton is now 5-0 with an ERA of 1.42 and is striking out over nine a game. I don't know about you but in the beginning of the season, Jacob Hilton was not a name thrown around a whole lot.

Eight more extra base hits for Central on the afternoon, doubles from Liam Spence, Jake Vander Wal, Ernny Ordonez, and Clayton Keyes. Three baggers from Brennan Reback, Spence, and Brett Harris. Vander Wal hit another homerun, his sixth, and scored three times and drove in another three.
