Cowboys Take Two-Playoffs Set

Big bats on Tuesday afternoon at The Casa Grande, dominant pitching too as Central Arizona College ripped Eastern Arizona twice with scores of 12-0 and 12-1.

Central pitching finally allowed their first run of the day in the last inning of game two, both games were run-rule games.

Jacob Hilton continued this "lights out" thing with a five inning run-rule first game shutout. He struck out five in winning his eighth game of the season. In game two, Luis Tellechea threw five innings and struck out a whopping nine batters without giving up a walk. This was probably the best outing he's had in his two years at Central.

Nice timing Luis!

Liam Spence doubled twice, in game one, Alix Garcia also doubled. Ernny Ordonez and Brennan Reback both hit homeruns as Central made the most of their eight hits. Central did a lot of damage on the bases again by stealing seven bases.

Game two hitting featured a homerun from Alix Garcia and two doubles from Jake Vander Wal. Josh Dudden singled three times and catcher Chris Diehl singled two times as Central got 12 hits in this one.

So.

With the sweep, Central wraps up the third position of the four D1 teams for the post season regional. The season-ending doubleheader against Cochise this weekend will have no bearing on the final seedings. Central travels to Yuma to face the #2 seed Matadors of Arizona Western in a best two-of-three series. Yes, there is a score to settle. Arizona Western has won all four matchups this year, three of the games by one run. South Mountain is the regular season winner and they will host a best two-of-three against #4 seed Cochise.
