Vaqueros Take 3 of 4-Win Grand Canyon Tournament

With three of four wins over the weekend, the Central Arizona College Vaqueros won in the final game against Yavapai Community College Sunday afternoon with a final of 5-1.

Avery Jones won his second game of the year by throwing six very solid innings without walking a batter. He gave up five singles and struck out four. Newly un red-shirted freshman Mitchell DeCovich threw zero's in two and a third, and Koa Eastlack got the final out in the win.

Yavapai wasn't able to record an extra base hit.

Clayton Keyes went 2-2 with two walks, another double, and stole a base, Zach Hogueisson and Ian Raidy also added doubles. While Central only had four hits altogether, they eagle-eyed for seven walks, and we all know a walk is as good as a hit.

Nice weekend for the Vaqueros with a pitching staff showing all it's got at this early point.

A home and away series this weekend with the home opener Friday afternoon at 2:00PM and Central travels to Glendale for a Saturday doubleheader.
