Rough day for Aztecs pitching Tuesday.
Vaqueros pitching brings silence.
Pima Community College managed only four hits in two games Tuesday afternoon at home in Tucson as Lucas Knowles faced 23 batters in the seven inning first game. Knowles was untouchable, striking out nine Aztecs while giving up only one pass in winning his fourth game (4-0) of the young season. It was a one-hitter and an 8-0 shutout.
Every starter hit for the Vaqueros while Zach Hogueisson homered and Nate Young tripled. Josh Dudden and Brennan Reback added doubles as Central put the game away with eight runs in the last four innings.
Knowles now has 45 strikeouts in 36 innings this year and his ERA sits at a conference-leading .050.
It got worse for Pima in game two with Central's quadruple-double.

Leadoff shortstop Matt Aribal singled four times and scored twice while 1B Jacob McKeon went 3-3 and walking twice to have a perfect 5-5 day at the plate and Ernny Ordonez, Ian Raidy, Dudden and Hogueisson also doubled. The final was 14-2.
Avery Jones pitched five solid innings for his fourth win and Central's bullpen threw zero's again for the final four innings. Tyler Woessner struck out another two of three in his one inning and Vaqueros pitching now has ten pitchers striking out more than ten batters per nine innings pitched. Central's 2.24 team ERA leads the ACCAC.
