It's easy to forget how being the National Champion gets you everyone's best every time out.

The Central Arizona College Vaqueros get everyone's pitching ace pretty much each time out, and every team has one.

"They've got a pretty good ball club. Yeah they're pretty good" said head coach Anthony Gilich about ACCAC Saturday opponent Paradise Valley Community College.

The problem for everyone though, is that Central has a few aces of their own.

And it makes for great baseball, like Saturday.

In game one, Mat Olsen threw six and a third, striking out a whopping 13 batters while giving up only one run, which was unearned, while picking up his second win. As much as the Central staff touts that each game goes one-by-one and that's why you can't really have a "closer", it sure seems like Shane Spencer is getting that role so far in 2020. Spencer nailed down the final two batters and the Vaqueros won a very nice game one of the seven-inning DH games with a 2-1 score.

Middle infielders Matt Aribal and Zack Stewart each scored a run after hits, while Logan Valencia and Kiko Romero each drove in a run.

Olsen and Spencer finished with a fabulous two-hitter.

"It didn't seem to faze the boys considering we were light on the coaching staff today" said AC Earl Henderson. "They took ownership of their actions while competing at a high level."

More of the best from PVCC in game two and Central trailed 2-0 after three innings but doing as the coaches always preach "chipping away", the Vaqueros got extra-base hits from Romero and Stewart with outfielder Preston Godfrey going four for five with three very clutch RBI's. Starter Ky Bush and relievers Johnny Rice, JUCO World Series pitcher Tyler Woessner,  and Spencer scattered four singles and a double for the 6-4 win.

Spencer again closed out the Pumas for the sweep.

Central kicked off conference play Saturday with these two wins.
