Trailing by 22 points early in the second half, the Vaqueros rallied for an 89-84 overtime victory over Arizona Western on Wednesday night at the George Young Activity Center.

Central (14-12, 7-11 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) went ahead to stay at 83-81 on Simon Okolue's second-chance basket with 3:02 remaining.

Josiah Westbrook led CAC with 25 points, followed by Calvin Johnson Jr. with 16. Scoring 10 apiece were DaShawn Shelton, Okolue and Karriem Simmons.

The Vaqueros came into the game tied with Eastern Arizona in the race for the fourth and final berth in the Division I Region 1 tournament.

The Matadors (20-6, 13-5) were tied for first in the ACCAC with Cochise and Phoenix going in.
