Central Arizona College Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams competed in their first home meet of the season on Saturday against local junior colleges and universities from Arizona.  Although the men and women were competing as "unattached", as opposed to a team, that did not deter the Vaqueros and Vaqueras from posting some solid marks with over a month before the outdoor season begins.  

The Vaqueros qho competed were Bryce Holdridge (60 meter), Abdul Razak (400 meter), Joseph Carlson (600 Meter), Christian Franklin (1000 Meter), Jadan Augustine (1000 Meter), Joel Nyatusah (60 Meter Hurdles), Jamal Cash (60 Meter Hurdles), Obinna Nwanko (60 Meter Hurdles), Kiondre Taylor (4x4 Relay), Jaelan Stewart (4x4 Relay, Triple Jump), Godwin Charles (Triple Jump).  Leading the men were performances from Godwin and Joel, both made qualifying Indoor National standards, and if CAC was competing in the NJCAA National Meet, would have already punched their ticket with their marks on Saturday, respectively. 

The Vaqueras also had quite a few ladies test their fitness level against the field of athletes who have been competing for a month.  The Vaqueras showed that they are on the right path as 3 ladies made the National Indoor Standard and with over a month left of quality practice, will only continue to get stronger.  The Vaqueras with National Qualifying marks were: Soniya Jones (60 Meter), Juvonna Cornette (200 Meter), and Princess Kara (Shot Put).  Other Vaqueras competing unattached on Saturday were: Cece Charles (400 Meter, 4x4 Relay), Silet Gray (400 Meter, 4x4 Relay), Ashanit Gordon (600 Meter, 4x4 Relay), Rachel Rose (600 Meter, 4x4 Relay), Kaise Ugeh (Shot Put), and Shakera Kik (Shot Put).

CAC Track and Field will be back in action the next 2 weeks with a few athletes competing unattached at the Mesa Multi and NAU Tune-Up Meet before live action at Willie Williams on 3/18/22.
