CAC Mens Cross Country are the 2016 NJCAA Mens Cross Country National Champions

The CAC Mens cross country team rap up an excellent season with their best performance of the year. The CAC Mens team win the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships with a very impressive score of only 49 points. Second was Iowa Central with 62 points.

Gilbet Kigen of Central Arizona College defends his National Championship title by winning in dominant fashion with a time of 23:47.

CAC had their first 5 men in the top 25 places. There were 300 runners in the race.

First team All American was Jorge Perez (3rd place), and Gilbert Kigen (1st)

Second team All American was Anthony Masayesva (9th pace), and Emmanuel Hidalgo (14th place)

Rounding out the places was Deng Deng in 25th place, Oscar Amaya in 37th place, and Xavier Esparza in 49th place.

Coach Tavares was extremely proud of all the hard work that the Mens team put in since the beginning of summer in order to accomplish their goals.

Coach Tavares believes "this is one of the hardest working teams that he has ever coached at Central Arizona College. With hard work and talent you can accomplish many things."

This mark the seventh year in a row that the Mens Cross Country team have not finished less than third at Cross Country Nationals. One of coach Tavares's greatest accomplishments.
