Cross Country Adds Three Strong Incoming Freshman

Friday

The Central Arizona College Men's Cross Country Team added three new additions to next year's squad. Each runner is expected to help the vaqueros boost their 7th place finish at last year's NJCAA National Championship.

Jayden Smith (Ganado High School) brings strength and leadership to the team. Jayden, who was not able to compete at the Arizona Cross Country Championships, has a chip on his shoulder and will be aiming to redeem what was missed his senior season. He has personal records of: 15:55.10 (5k), 4:29.36 (1600), and 1:57.64 (800).

Sulliman Rodriguez (El Paso Eastwood High School) brings speed and pedigree to the team. Sulliman competed for one of the best distance programs in the State of Texas and one of the best high school coaches in the nation, Michael McLain. Sulliman was 46th at the 6A Texas State Cross Country Championship in the fall. He has personal records of: 15:39.73 (5k), 4:22.49 (1600), and 1:55.99 (800).

Jorge Felix-Valle (Nogales High School) brings tenacity and agility to the team. He was not only a standout cross country athlete but also played 3 years of varsity basketball for Nogales. Jorge was 13th at the AIA Division 2 State Cross Country Championships in the fall. He has personal records of: 16:34.60 (5k), 9:49.29 (3200), 4:36.07 (1600).

"I'm very pleased to have these three young men join our team!" Stated Head Coach Jon Harmon.  "They will significantly boost our squad because they have the heart and desire to want to compete."
