Golden Named Head Coach at Central Arizona

Geoff Golden was named head women's basketball coach at Central Arizona College on October 3, 2022. Golden will be only the 3rd head coach in school history and brings 20 years of experience to the Vaqueras program with stints at the high school, college, international and professional levels.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this program into a new era of Vaqueras basketball. I have tremendous respect for the winning tradition at CAC and hope to build on that success in the future. I'm excited to hit the groud running with this fantastic group of young women on the roster."  

Golden arrives to CAC from the University of Northern Colorado where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Bears. Prior to UNC he served as an assistant coach at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana where he helped lead the Bobcats to a 17-13 overall record and 13-3 in the Big Sky Conference. 

Previous to joining the college ranks, Golden spent a season coaching internationally at BK RIG Mark Academy and Mark Basket of the Svenska Basketligan in Kinna, Sweden. 

Early in his career, Golden built a reputation as a teacher and trainer of amatuer and professional basketball athletes with Geoff Golden Basketball Academy based in Denver, Colorado. GGB Academy clientele was represented in basketball leagues worldwide including the NBA, WNBA, NCAA, Euroleague and NBA G-League. In 2010, he founded Basketball Club Denver (BC Denver) in an effort to expand his player development passion to the team setting. As executive director and head coach, Golden built BC Denver into the top developmental academy in the Rocky Mountain region and the club was later selected as 1 of 36 organizations nationwide to join the inaugual Girls Under Armour Association. 

Additional stops in his coaching career include a season in the NBA G-League as an assistant coach for player development with the Colorado 14ers and four season coaching high school boys basketball in the Denver metro area. 

As a player, Golden was a two-time All-State point guard at Durant (Okla.) High School. He earned a scholarship to play at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where he helped lead the Bobcats to a 1997 Southland Conference Championship and berth in the 1997 NCAA Tournament. 

Golden earned a bachlor's degree in Applied Arts & Sciences from Texas State University. He and is wife Brandi have 2 children Avery & Langston. 

Central Arizona will open thier season on the road at the Mesa (AZ) Classic vs NJCAA DII National runner-up Morton College on November 11th.
