Vaqueras out run Scottsdale on Sophomore Saturday

The Central Arizona Vaqueras' out ran Scottsdale CC on Sophomore Saturday from start to finish winning in impressive fashion 74-60. Central took a commanding 19-11 lead in the first quarter and never looked back outscoring the Artichokes 37-26 in the 2nd half of play. The Vaqueras, with only 7 players available for participation for the third consecutive game due to injury, continue to show thier grit and toughness by successfully battling through a lack of depth.

CAC was lead by sophomore standouts Mia Ross (20) and Senya Rabouin (17) who combined for 37 points on the afternoon. Mia and Senya, along with fellow sophomore Thirza Hanus (injured) were honored before the final home game of the season in recongnition of thier outstanding contribution to the Vaqueras program. All three players will graduate this spring and have the opportunity to pursue thier academic and basketball careers on the next level.

Freshman Kymani Bledsoe (ALA - Gilbert) continued her improved play in the paint by posting her 3rd double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds while playing exceptional interior defense for the Vaqueras. Pa'shence Walker, the regions leading scorer, contributed 13 points and 6 assist. 

The win improves the Vaqueras overall record to 15-13 on the season and 10-9 in the ACCAC. With 3 games remaining on the schedule and trailing Arizona Western by 1 game for the final playoff spot in the ACCAC tournament they will travel to league leading Eastern Arizona (25-1) on Wednesday, Pima CC (21-6) on Saturday, and finish the regular season at Chandler-Gilbert (10-16) on Tuesday the 28th.
