Women Track and Field Win Region 1 Championships

The ACCAC Region 1 Championship Concluded on Saturday with the Vaqueras taking home the championship title.  The Vaqueras beat Mesa Community College 265 to 244, Pima Community College was a distant third with 169 points. 

Individual Region 1 Champions from CAC were:

Aliyah Gidharry (Heptathlon) scored 4856 points which qualified her for the NJCAA National Meet and she remains ranked 3rd in the nation.

Mikelia Strong (100 Hurdles) ran 14.02 which qualified her for the NJCAA National Meet and has her ranked 6th in the nation.

T'anna Liburd (200m) ran 24.06 which qualified her for the NJCAA National meet and has her ranked 13th in the nation.

T'anna Liburd (400m) ran 54.33 which qualified her for the NJCAA National meet and has her ranked 8th in the nation.

4x400 Relay consisting of Amiyanee Harris, Mikelia Strong, T'anna Liburd, and Grace Kombetto.  The team ran 3:43.32 which qualifies them for the NJCAA National Meet and has the team ranked 3rd in the nation.

Grace Kombetto (400m Hurdles) ran 1:01.21 which qualified her for the NJCAA National Meet and she remains ranked 1st in the nation. 

Temyra Bia (3000m steeplechase) ran 12:03.24 which qualified her for the NJCAA National Meet and has her ranked 17th in the nation.

Kasie Ugeh (Discus) threw 146" 7' which qualified her for the NJCAA National meet and she remains ranked 5th in the nation.

Kasie Ugeh (Shot Put) threw 44" 8.25" which qualified her for the NJCAA National Meet and she remains ranked 4th in the nation.

Rejoice Agbewodie (Javelin) threw 157" 11' which qualified her for the NJCAA National meet and she remains 2nd in the nation.

The following athletes may not have won an individual event but helped the Vaqueras win by placing in the Top 8 at the meet:

Mikelia Strong scored 28.5 points total in the 100m, 100m hurdles, 200m, 4x100 and 4x400 relay.

Aliyah Gidharry scored 31 points total in the 100m, 200m, 100m hurdles, high jump, javelin, heptathlon and 4x100 Relay.

Amiyanee Harris scored 7.5 points total in the 100m, 200m, 4x100 and 4x400 relay.

Jacey Perkins scored 9 points total in the 400m hurdles, javelin and heptathlon.

Shakiah Phillip scored 5.5 points total in the 400m hurdles and 4x800 relay.

Grace Kombetto scored 22 points total in the 400m, 400m hurdles, 4x400 and 4x800 relay.

Brianna Samuels scored 9.5 points total in the 800m, 1500m and 4x800 relay.

Alesyia Barlow scored 4 points total all in the 3000m steeplechase.

Temyra Bia scored 27 points total in the 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 5000m and 10000m.

Jessica Viera scored 13.5 points in the 3000m steeplechase, 5000m, 10000m and 4x800 relay.

Megan Tsabetsaye scored 11 points total in the 3000m steeplechase, 5000m and 10000m.

Nevaeh Scott scored 2 points total all in the 5000m.

Kaise Ugeh scored 30 points total in the shot put, discus, javelin and hammer.

Rejoice Agbewodie scored 36 points total in the shot put, discus, javelin, and hammer.

Jamelia Nicholas scored 7 points total in the hammer and shot put.

The season concludes on May 16th, 17th, and 18th at the NJCAA D1 National Championships which is being held at Louisiana Monroe University.
