Women's Cross Country Signs 3 more Arizona Athletes

May 6, 2023

Central Arizona Women's Cross Country continues to heavily invest their roster with some of the top Arizona runners in the state as 3 more athletes have committed to the program.

"It's a great feeling knowing that an Arizona recruit decides to commit to our program because I know they had many options but at the end of it all they chose to be a Vaquera"  Stated Head Coach Jon Harmon.

Alesyia Barlow, Nevaeh Scott, and Jessica Viera all chose Central Arizona over other schools because of it's strong legacy in distance running.

"The women's team has won 2 NJCAA National Titles and has been Runner-Up 7x within the past 20 years!"  "I'd say that deserves a lot of praise and recognition"  Said Harmon.

Central Arizona College Women Cross Country leads the NJCAA across all divisions for having the most top 10 finishes at Nationals since it's induction in 1996.  That number, 26 to be exact, is 5 more appearences than the second leading team (Barton CC) who started their program in 1979.

Alesyia Barlow, Snowflake High School; was 7th at the D3 State Cross Country Championship and her team placed 3rd in 2022.  Also has the school record in the 3200m (11:57.72).

Nevaeh Scott (Transfer), Chinle High School; 39th at the NJCAA D2 Cross Country Championship.

Jessica Viera, Carl Hayden High School; was 45th at the D1 State Cross Country Championship and her team placed 17th in 2022.
