Bio

Coach Jonathan Harmon is a former Central Arizona Alumni. During his time as an athlete he helped CAC win Two National Championships; one for Cross Country (2003) and one for Track and Field (2005). 

Before competing for the Vaqueros, he was a Two Time State Champion at Holbrook High School, where he holds the school records for the 1600 meter and 3200 meter races. 

After receiving his AA from CAC, Harmon transferred to the University of North Carolina at Ashville where he held school records for the 5000 meter indoor and the 10000 meter outdoor. He finished with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Sociology.  Coach Harmon is still an avid runner and competes in numerous road races throughout the year. 

In Spring 2024, Harmon was inducted into the North American Indigenous Hall of Fame for coaching. 

Harmon enters his 14th year of coaching at Central Arizona College.  During his span as an Assistant Coach, he helped lead the men to 4 National Championships and 4 runner up positions.  The women would be runner up a total of 6 times during that span.  As a Head Coach, the men and women have both placed 8th (2021), 7th (2022 and 2023) and 6th (2023) at the National Meet.  

Currently, Central Arizona College Men and Women Cross Country lead the Nation for most consecutive Top 10 Performances:

The men sit at 41 Top 10 performances since 1974 with 2023 being the most recent and have won The NJCAA National Championship in 1988, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018.

The women sit at 27 Top 10 performances since 1996 with 2023 being the most recent and have won The NJCAA National CHampionship in 2005 and 2009.
