Vaqueros tally six runs in the 7th, trip up Glendale CC

MJ Hubbs blasted another one, this one with two runners on, Tim Hergert went 3-4 and scored three, Caleb Henderson went 2-5 with a triple, Josh Ethier added two more hits and the Central Vaqueros took it to Glendale Community College 10-7 Wednesday afternoon.

This game was in hand after the Vaq's sored 6 runs in the 7th inning to take a 9-2 lead, Glendale gave it a run for a comeback in the 9th scoring five but freshman Dailey Carnes came in for the final out to record the save, the first for the team this year.

What a sparkling five innings Michael Lopez threw for the win. The freshman gave up one hit, struck out 3, then sat without giving up a run. It was one of those days that makes a pitcher glad to be alive. Coach Anthony Gilich used five pitchers on the day, spreading the innings for early season work, and these pitchers gave up only six hits, only one of the seven runs were earned.

Yes there were defensive miscues, the Vaq's comitted four errors and that's probably what the coach went to bed thinking about. That's how it goes.

Central Arizona moves to 2-0 overall. Central hosts College of Southern Nevada in a double header Saturday starting at 11AM.
