Vaqueros run into a buzzsaw vs South Mountain

Right off the bat, there were weird problems with the umpires.

An exchanging of pleasantries broke out almost immediately with assistant coach Greg Bordes and the field umpire and this being different than MLB, you can hear almost every word. Something about "I don't want to hear your mouth" and something about "I heard what you said" and something about "do you want to stay in the game". The conversation ended with a very polite "thank you sir" from the third base coach.

Then there was the weird warning the home plate umpire gave the entire team when they came out to jubilantly celebrate the MJ Hubbs moon shot to 410 center field.

"Don't come out here near the plate, stay back there by the dugout!" Mr. Umpire yells.

???

All this aside, South Mountain was ripping the ball everywhere and the final was 11-4. MJ went 4-4 and the homerun was a sight to see, a glorious, sailing, high ball that just carried and carried until it disappeared over the wall at 410. Josh Ethier tripled and the Vaqueros put together nine hits, but it was a day to forget.

Central stands at 1-3, 8-4.

High fives after a nice catch from centerfielder Tim Hergert
