Tough Weekend for Baseball-Yavapai takes two from Vaqueros

Let's put it this way, it'll be good to get back home. Let's also put it this way, it'll be good to get back home...pretty much. In comes the #3 ranked NJCAA program for two at The Big House on Tuesday and a great opportunity for Central Arizona to get back on track against a good club. It's a new week for the multi-talented Central Arizona College baseball team.

"We couldn't get 'em out" summarized HD Anthony Gilich after a long bus ride back from Prescott as the Vaqueros dropped two from Yavapai Community College on Saturday. Yavapai leads the ACCAC in hitting, bombs and ribs, ridiculous numbers. This Willie Calhoun character for Yavapai must be contained. Central did their share of hitting all weekend also, but in game one, a 7-run sixth helped the Roughriders win 13-12. Cooper Esmay, MJ, Caleb Henderson, Bryce Redaja and Cody Erickson all doubled, Josh Ethier tripled again and Central collected 14 hits.

The game two score was 16-6, and again, another 7-run sixth hurt Central. MJ homered again and is currently hitting .500 on the year and leading the conference in hitting as he collected two more hits. Jake Brown is around .400 and Josh Ethier is in the zone at .344. Los Vaqueros are second currently in batting average in the ACCAC behind Yavapai at .366, and third in runs scored, rbi's and hits.

The pitching and fielding stats have Central around the middle of the pack.

It's two on Tuesday in Coolidge with Cochise in town, the forecast says 65 degrees and sunny, game one first pitch is at noon. This will be a big day.
