Vaqueros in a little slide, lose DH to Cochise

A little slide for the Vaqueros as they lost two to Cochise College on a nipper Tuesday afternoon. It was windy, changing directions all afternoon. A wild pitch did in Central in game one ruining a brilliant start for freshman Dakody Clemmer in a 2-1 loss, and timely hits in later innings helped Cochise take game two, 10-5.

"Any more out of you and I'll toss you"-Blue to pitching coach Jerry A'hearn.

Nobody could figure out the home plate umpire's strike zone in game two and it made a tough ending for starter Michael Lopez who battled and battled through almost 6 innings.

"Heck of a start" noted catcher Colby Hamilton in the dugout as A'hearn slowly walked back to the dugout mumbling in ear shot of blue after a pitching change in the sixth. Another homerun from MJ in game two, but this one wasn't a glorious sailing fly ball, it was a shot to left for his conference leading 5th homerun of the year. The ball sounds different coming off his bat on shots like that. When the opposition's 9th hole is hitting line drives to the fence, it's just not your day.

But it's early, the Vaqueros have the talent, the coaching, and bettter yet, plenty of time. Central hosts another home game Wednesday versus Aoyama of Japan at 2pm at The Big House.
