Central sweeps Glendale; moves into first in ACCAC. Grand slam for Morgan, Castillo complete game shutout.

You have to love getting six AB's a game.

That tells you how a team can hit. The first three batters got at least six at-bats in two of the last three games and Central Arizona has scored 29 runs, taken two of three, and moved into first place in the ACCAC with a sweep of Glendale Community College Saturday afternoon.

Game 1 4-0 (seven innings)

George Castillo threw his third shutout of the season as Central Arizona won 4-0. Castillo has lowered his ERA to 1.48 and leads the ACCAC in wins and strikeouts. Tough to score when you're giving up three hits a game. The top of the order drove in all four runs with four doubles between them. Makoa Rosario doubled twice and Jaime Estrada and Caleb Henderson each doubled. Andrew Chartrand and SS Roger Varela each contributed two hits.

Game 2 13-9 (nine innings)

The way Central hits, they can never be counted out. The Vaqueros countered with six runs erasing a 5-0 deficit in the third. Down 5-2, it was Central's first grand slam of the year when Bradley Morgan poked one out to right.

This was the happiest offensive event of the day. The happiest pitching moment was in the eighth. Ahead 10-9 with bags packed and one down, Ben Skuro entered (Stranglehold from The Nuge plays in your head) and whiffed the next two. He fanned two more in the ninth, ball game.

Estrada drove in three runs from the 2-spot, Mitchell Robinson and Rosario drove in a couple apiece to add on the day. There were SAC flies and SAC bunts, the Cowboys did it all on Saturday.

"It's the sophomore leadership that stands out. We have leaders that are vocal and leaders by example" said head Coach Anthony Gilich.

"These guys are easy to respect with how hard they work."

The Vaqueros are now 24-3 and 10-2 on the year and in first place.
