It's rare when there's a loss in the Vaquero's baseball article, which is good that it's rare. But a loss is a loss and no matter what, it's never good. And if anything, a loss makes certain people even madder.

"We couldn't avoid the big inning" said certain people. "We just need to continue to work hard and get better."

There's no mad in that statement, but we all know better.

Game 1: 6-1 (7 innings)

George Castillo threw a dazzler in game one against Pima, it was a 4-hitter with 7 punchouts and zero walks. Castillo is now 7-1 on the season and is tied with teammate Dakody Clemmer for wins. You can count on the old man for something every game. Central recorded 14 more hits with Mitchell Robinson hitting three singles and driving in a run, Caleb Henderson doubled and singled driving in three more, Jaime Estrada and Andrew Chartrand drove in the other two runs. Bradley Morgan added a two-bagger.

Game 2: 13-14 (11 innings)

Central led Pima 4-2 after 5 innings and gave up an ugly ten-run sixth inning to makes the score 12-4 and it's a huge help after a disaster like that to come right back with a couple of punches because you're not dead. And that's what happened.

The Vaqueros posted three in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 12-7, and sure enough, ripped and ran around the bases aggressively, threw up six runs and after 7 innings, the Vaqueros unbelievably had the lead at 13-12. Pima scored one in the top of the eighth and then again in the 11th to take the split. Central had 19 more hits in game 2.

Ernie de la Trinidad had three hits, so did Brent Bailey, one of them a double. Mitchell Robinson drove in three runs with two more hits, and Jaime Estrada doubled, scored twice and knocked in two, Chris Kobar doubled, and Roger Varela had two hits  and scored twice.

You get carpal tunnel syndrome when a team tallies 33 hits.

Makoa Rosario tripled and Brent Gibbs added two more hits and that's the positive but "couldn't avoid the big inning" tells it all on this day.

The nation's #3 NJCAA team Central Arizona Vaqueros hold a 1.5 game lead in ACCAC play over Yavapai (also receiving votes) and this weekend features a two game set against Scottsdale Community College, Friday there, Saturday here.
