Vaq's spray it around but so does South Mountain; down to final four games

Well, glad this week is over. Central Arizona's Vaqueros hit it around a little on Saturday afternoon in Phoenix at South Mountain, but they couldn't stop the Cougars bats and it was a final of 12-6.

Markus Montelongo, glad to see you go! What a nightmare. The Vaqueros' runs came courtesy of a Mitchell Robinson homerun, a couple of hits from catcher Brent Gibbs, a Roger Varela rbi single, and Caleb Henderson hit another double and scored twice.

Let's take a look:

Yavapai Community College was swept by Cochise so that leaves Yavapai and Central tied atop the ACCAC at 22-10 but the tie breaker would go to Yavapai if it ends in a tie due to a 3-1 series head to head. With Cochises' sweep, it pulls them to within two games of the top. And with South Mountain winning twice this weekend, they are now one game back of first.

ACCAC STANDINGS

We now enter the final week of conference play and this is how it looks coming down the stretch:

This Tuesday

  • South Mountain plays Cochise twice
  • Central Arizona entertains Eastern Arizona twice.
  • Yavapai plays Western Arizona twice.

Don't even try to look past this Tuesday.
