Chris Diehl with a timely two run double Tuesday

Vaqueros With Another Shutout 9-0

"We have guys who know how to throw" head coach Anthony Gilich said in the 2018 preview.

Four pitchers combined for a three hit shutout at Glendale Tuesday afternoon, and Chris Diehl rapped a two-run double to open up a six run 7th inning as Central blanked Glendale Community College 9-0 Tuesday afternoon.

RJ Dabovich started and went a terrific 5.2 giving up one hit, Koa Eastlack, Avery Jones and Matt Dalke shut down the Gauchos the rest of the way giving Central four shutouts out of eight played games (the 1-0 Sunday win was a forfeit).

Central played a tight game through six with a 3-0 lead and like so many other nine inning games that are tight, it comes down to the bullpen in the end. The Vaqueros look like they possess a solid and dependable one. Alix Garcia singled three times, and the extra base onslaught continued with doubles from Jake Vander Wal, Liam Spence, Brett Harris and Diehl. Reagan Teegarden tripled and scored twice. Brennan Reback and pinch runner Clayton Keyes also scored twice.

Central Arizona stole eight bases Tuesday afternoon, not getting caught once.
