Doubleheader Split for Baseball with Glendale

Not the best result you'd hope for at all, but a split with 11th place Glendale Community College doesn't mean a whole lot just yet.

The Vaqueros couldn't get anything going offensively in Game 1 and were shut out 2-0, collecting only three hits, a Liam Spence double and two other singles. Central starter Lucas Knowles threw a great seven inning complete game giving up two earned runs, but without any runs scored, fell to 8-2 on the season.

Central took ten innings in Game 2 and won scoring in the bottom of the inning with a final of 7-6.

A win is what you'd want to show from an 18 strikeout performance courtesy of the Central pitching staff.

Jason Nelson was injured after striking out his first batter and in came Jonathan Stroman who ended up tossing 5 and 2/3 innings striking out 12 of his 17 outs. The Gauchos did manage a couple of walks and two unearned runs off of him.

With a final of 7-6 getting Central the DH split, in the end, the Vaqueros comitted four errors in game two and all six Gaucho runs were unearned.

Hm.

The Vaqueros did have 13 hits in Game 2 including a homerun from Zach Hogueisson, his 7th, and doubles from Ernny Ordonez and Clayton Keyes. Matt Aribal (2B) singled four times and stole a couple of bags.

You forget this one because there is lots left to do.

Central is now a game and a half back of the fourth and final ACCAC play-off position at 17-13 and 31-17. All it takes is to get the sticks hot, and there's time.

This is what's left:

-Home-away with 2nd place South Mountain starting Tuesday

-Home DH with 3rd place Yavapai coming Saturday

-Away DH with last place Eastern Arizona

-Season final DH with 1st place Cochise

As of today with eight games left, the 2nd and 6th place teams are separated by 2 and a half games.
