GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The No. 6 seed Central Arizona Vaqueros and the No. 5 Cowley Tigers (KS) met up with a 1-1 JUCO record but the Vaqueros came out on top to defeat the Tigers 12-8 in an elimination game.

The Tigers got the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning as Blake Robertson hit a double down the third base line to advance Bryce Madron home.

The Vaqueros quickly answered back in the top of the fourth with a single through the left side by Seth Beckstead who sent Jake Jarvis to score, who reached with a single to the left center field. The inning did not stop there as Preston Godfrey received an RBI from a sac fly to allow Devon Dixon to easily head home to take the 2-1 lead over the Tigers.

The Tigers rotated through eight pitchers throughout the game, but it was not enough. The Vaqueros scored in six straight innings to maintain the lead from the fifth inning and on. As the Tigers were able to shorten the gap on offense, the Vaqueros answered the following inning, including a two-run homer from Matt Aribal in the eighth to have the largest lead of the night at 10-4.

It was a hit and respond game as the Vaqueros had a 10-4 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth, but the Tigers responded with four runs that all came from doubles by Madron who advanced to third on error, Janson Reeder, and Roberston to end the eighth inning 10-8.

Another response the Vaqueros to finish off the ninth inning was from Seth Beckstead who singled up the middle for Jake Jarvis and Kiki Romero to run home to head into the bottom of the ninth with a 12-8 lead.

The fifth and final pitcher for Central Arizona, Cristian Sanchez, allowed one hit in the bottom ninth as all three outs came from strike outs. Sanchez had a total of four strikeouts to earn the save.

The Tigers season comes to an end with a 47-10 overall record and 1-2 JUCO record.
