(Chandler AZ) - Frasier Valley was in town for a few games down south and Central Arizona College scored in each of their six innings for a run-rule 22-3 win Thursday afternoon, the first of two games at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The second game was the fourth meeting of the Coyotes and Vaqueros this year and handily, it was Central taking a 9-2 win, sweeping the four game set.

"It was a really long day, but a pretty great day" said head coach Anthony Gilich.

"We hit five homeruns in that first game against Frasier, and our hitting is really coming along at this point" he continued.

In 32 games this year, Central has parked twenty-eight homeruns and that leads the ACCAC.

"I suspected early on that we would have a little less power this year than last, but so far, that's not true."

Ashtin Webb hit two and drove in four runs, Kiko Romero hit one, and with two other hits drove in five overall, Blake Avila hit his second this year, and Dusty Garcia, hitting second, also homered.

Devon Dixon went four-for-five with two doubles, Tyler Griggs and Vinnie Lagatta had two hits apiece and it was an onslaught halted after 6.5 innings.

Daniel Davila started and threw four innings striking out seven, while Davis Spencer threw the last three, striking out six.

It came to 31 runs scored in both games, and 32 strikeouts in both games.

Recipe for success?

Um...yes.

Game two had a final of 9-2 against Chandler Gilber Community College while Liam Evans punched nine in four innings, Cody Brooks struck out 5 in two-and-a third, and Jasiah George sat down five more in his two innings. Chandler-Gilbert is a tough team, and nineteen strikeouts in a game is a big number.

Avila went three-for-five, Trey Newman, Ryan Ball, Chase Valentine, and Trey Newman each had two hits in the 9-2 win.

Everyone is doing something right now at the plate, it's just a matter of who on what day.

Not to mention, when you are able to say things like: "I feel comfortable putting any of our pitchers in, any time. Every one of them is making the most of their opportunities".

It's a spring break for many, not for baseball though, because who wants a break when what's happening on the diamond keeps happening?

The Langley Blaze is visiting McSwain field today, probably the best collection of young and rising amateurs Canada has to offer, so expect some really fantastic baseball.

And who knows which, if any of these Langley players will end up with Vaquero green and gold.
