Men's Basketball Versus Phoenix College

-- PHOENIX — Lanerryl Johnson scored 15 points while Deshawn Jones, Jaylen Benton and Brandon Rosser each finished with 14 in Central Arizona College's 76-74 loss to host Phoenix College on Saturday.

Malik Thames finished with 11 points and Vincentas Aleksandravicius had six for the Vaqueros, who fell to 11-17 overall and 7-13 in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference.

After trailing 74-64 with 1:56 remaining, the Vaqueros scored the next 10 points to tie it at 74-74 with 22 seconds left. Benton began the CAC rally by making two free throws and a jumper. Jones then hit 3 of 4 free throws to pull the Vaqueros within 74-71, and Johnson made the tying three-pointer.

Brandon Brown answered for Phoenix by hitting the game-winning jump shot with seven seconds left.

Brown finished with a game-high 21 points for Phoenix (20-8, 14-6).

Jones had nine rebounds for the Vaqueros.
