Vaqureros win two tight ones.

Vaqureros win two tight ones.

Well allright. The Central Arizona Vaqueros pulled out a couple of tight ones this week with wins over South Mountai and Phoenix College to move to 7-4 and 3-2. Team chemistry is starting to gel and most importantly, the Cowboys are staying in the system and playing smart in the most important last three minutes of the game.

Central was down six at the half against South Mountain Tuesday night but it turned into the Karriem Simmons and Josh Rideau show and the Vaqueros outscored South 47-36 in the second half. Simmons hit all three of his three's, grabbed 13, and Rideau pulled down 8 rebounds while hitting on 9-9 in free throws. It's a good night when a guard has 9 rebounds and that's what Mike Nwabuzor did.

Four Vaqueros in double figures in Saturday's game against Phoenix, sophomore guard Trace Dimeff and Simmons scored 17 to lead Central. Ties at 29 at the half, Central ran a little more and hit the paint in the second to win by five. The Vqueros hit 81% of their frees.
