From 2022-2024, Hernandez served as the Men's Basketball Assistant Coach at the University of Saint Katherine. During the course of those two seasons the program collected a record of 43-17 and held an average of a 3.4 GPA over 4 semesters. In the 2023-2024 season, helped lead the team to a program record of 23-9 overall and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. Hernandez also coached four 1^st Team All-Conference players, the Freshman and Newcomer of the Year and the Sixth Man of the Year.

 

In 2021-2022 he served as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Rio Hondo College. Hernandez was the recruiting coordinator, and was in charge of opponent scouting, and player development.  Hernandez also coached two 1^st Team All-Conference players for the All-South Coast Conference North Division during his time at Rio Hondo College.
